Privacy Policy
Last updated 3 October 2026
This policy explains what Voice Arc collects, why, and what control you have over it. It applies to voicearc.in, the Voice Arc desktop app, and the Voice Arc browser extension.
Who we are
Voice Arc is operated from India. For any privacy question, or to exercise the rights described below, contact us at support@voicearc.in.
What we collect
We collect only what the product needs to work and to bill correctly:
- •Account details — your name, email address, and (for email sign-ups) a password stored as a bcrypt hash. We never store passwords in readable form.
- •Usage records — the number of words transcribed, the language, the duration of each dictation, and which client you used. This enforces your plan limit and shows your usage.
- •Technical records — IP address, browser user agent, and the pages you visit. Used for security, fraud prevention, and understanding which parts of the site are useful.
- •Payment records — subscription status and Razorpay identifiers. Card and UPI details are handled entirely by Razorpay and never reach our servers.
Your audio
This is the part most people want to know about, so we will be direct.
When you dictate, audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription. If that service is unavailable, the same recording and selected vocabulary hints are sent to Google Gemini as a fallback. The text is returned to you. Voice Arc does not save your audio to disk or a database; it is held in memory while the request is processed.
Transcript history is off by default. If you enable Save future dictations in your dashboard, we store your latest 100 transcripts in your account so you can review and copy them. You can delete individual transcripts or all history. Turning history off stops future saves but does not delete existing history. Aggregate word, sentence and session counts remain when history is deleted.
Your personal dictionary stores the terms and optional corrections you choose to save. Recently saved terms may be sent to OpenAI as recognition hints with future audio. You can edit or remove dictionary entries from your dashboard.
Audio is processed on the selected provider’s infrastructure and is subject to that provider’s API data policies. OpenAI and Google have separate data-use and retention terms; the applicable Google terms can depend on the API service and billing configuration.
Why we are allowed to process this
We process account and usage data to perform the contract you enter when you create an account. We process technical and security data on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and working. Where consent is required, we ask for it.
Who we share with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers required to run Voice Arc:
- •OpenAI — primary speech-to-text transcription. Google Gemini — fallback transcription when the primary service is unavailable; the recorded audio and selected vocabulary hints are then sent to Google.
- •Razorpay — payment processing and subscription management.
- •Our hosting and database providers — storage and delivery of the application.
- •Authorities, where we are legally obliged to do so.
How long we keep things
Optional transcript history is kept until you delete it, delete your account, or it is replaced by newer entries beyond the latest 100. Personal dictionary entries and aggregate dictation totals remain while your account exists.
Account data is kept while your account exists. Usage and security records are kept for up to 12 months. Anonymous page-view records are deleted after 90 days. Billing records are kept for seven years, as financial record-keeping rules require.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, and equivalent laws elsewhere, you can ask us to show you your data, correct it, delete it, or stop processing it. Write to support@voicearc.in and we will respond within 30 days.
You can request account deletion by contacting support@voicearc.in. A self-service account deletion option is not currently available. We will explain any limited billing records that must be retained when handling your request.
Changes
If we change this policy materially we will say so on this page and, where the change affects you directly, by email.
